Retrieving Wifi Password

This walkthrough works on Windows Vista and newer.

  1. Open the Control Panel.
    1. Press the Start Button, type Control Panel and press Enter when it appears in the search results.
  2. In the upper right-hand corner, verify that View By is set to Large or Small Icons is listed, if not, change it.
  3. Click Network and Sharing Center.
  4. Under the View your active networks group, click the Wifi Connection Name. Example: Frontier 4879, Johnson Internet
  5. When the Wifi Status window opens, click the Wireless Properties button.
  6. Click the Security tab.
  7. Click the Show Characters checkbox. Your Wifi password will be displayed in the Network Security Key box.
